Amayi qualified as a solicitor in 2019 and is part of the Advoca team specialising in care proceedings and private children law matters. She represents parents in care proceedings and has experience dealing with cases that involve domestic abuse, parental mental health, drug abuse, sexual abuse, learning disabilities and non-accidental injuries. Amayi also represents parents in Child Arrangement matters, relating to live with and spend time with orders, prohibited steps orders and specific issue orders.
Amayi is a member of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel and therefore represents children and CAFCASS Guardians in both public and private law children’s proceedings, undertaking most of her own advocacy when able. Amayi is also a Resolution Accredited Specialist in public and private children law matters.
She often represents vulnerable clients in difficult circumstances and is therefore attuned to dealing with sensitive matters in a compassionate manner. Amayi is committed to advocating a client’s case to ensure the best possible outcome for them. She looks at practical and innovative solutions in resolving a matter.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Amayi is easily able to understand and empathise with differing cultural practices and norms whilst also taking a pragmatic approach to the legal process in this jurisdiction.
