Lyons Davidson is delighted to have been awarded Legal Sector Employer of the Year by Skills for Justice for our work on developing apprenticeships across the legal sector. The award was given at the Big Event, the Big Celebration at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 12 November.
Lyons Davidson has been an integral part of the project since it began, in both designing the apprenticeship programmes and delivering apprenticeships in our Cardiff, Bristol and Leeds offices. Both Katherine Howells-Price and Carly Horseman have sat on Steering Groups across England, Wales and Scotland where, together with other stakeholders, we have helped to shape what an apprenticeship in legal practice should look like and what standards should be met.
Apprenticeships provide excellent opportunities for people to build careers and not just jobs in the legal sector – without going to university. As well as the opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’, apprenticeships allow people gain real practical experience directly alongside acquiring academic knowledge.
We have gained a lot from being involved in this project and were honoured to have our contribution recognised with this award. We look forward to helping this scheme grow and flourish over the years to come.
