Filton College staff and students visited Lyons Davidson’s Bristol office on 14 December. Fifteen keen members of staff from the company have volunteered to act as mentors through the Careers Academies scheme.
Two students gave a presentation on the running of the scheme to date and Jo Webley, Head of Vocational Business Development at the College, spoke about the role of the mentor.
The mentors from Lyons Davidson span a variety of legal backgrounds, from asbestos litigation, training, child abduction and employment, and will be working with the college’s students to support and encourage them throughout their sixth-form careers. During the summer, Lyons Davidson’s Bristol offices will be offering five students paid internships and will also be running a series of lectures at the College.
Lyons Davidson’s Leeds office is already involved in this scheme and has forged links with the city’s Notre Dame Sixth Form College.
