Information about our charges
Our fees are calculated based on the time we spend on your claim at the rates set out in Category E below. If you have legal expense insurance our fees will be paid by your insurer provided you comply with your policy terms.
If you do not have legal expenses insurance our fees may be recoverable from your opponent in part with the remainder being deducted from your damages. The amount recoverable from the opponent is dependent on the category of claim, value and stage at which it settles.
Expenses and VAT will also be payable in addition. More information is set out below.
If we have agreed to act with a success fee; that will not be recoverable from the opponent in any event and will be deducted from damages you receive.
Provided you fulfil your responsibilities under our agreement with you, our fees deducted from damages (including success fee and VAT) will not exceed 25% of your damages. We will retain any fees recovered from your opponent.

Expenses (such as expert fees) that we pay on your behalf will usually be recovered from your opponent up to a maximum of £750 per expert. Your legal expenses insurer will pay any advocate fees if a final hearing is required. If proceedings are issued a small amount of costs will be recovered in addition to the above. |

- Please note that legal expenses insurance will be subject to an indemnity limit. If it appears that this indemnity limit is likely to be exceeded, we will advise you as soon as possible and explain the impact that this may have on the payment of our fees.
Category A – Official Injury Claims (‘OIC’)
If the personal injury part of your claim is agreed at £5,000 or less then your claim is likely to fall into this category.
Category B – Ministry of Justice Portal costs (‘MOJ’)
The MOJ Portal is a streamlined process for claims up to £25,000 which are not suitable for the OIC category. For example, claims on behalf of children. It is a requirement that the opponent accepts blame in these claims. The recoverable fees are:

Category C – Fast Track
This category covers claims up to £25,000 which are not suitable for either the OIC or MOJ process. The recoverable fees are set out here:
Category D – Intermediate Track
This category covers claims worth between £25,000 and £100,000. The recoverable fees are set out here:
Category E – Multi-Track & Hourly Rate Recovery
Where the value of your claim for damages is over £100,000 or it is allocated to the multi-track, or in some other circumstances, costs are recoverable at our hourly rate. The maximum rates we utilise are as set out below, unless we specifically write to you with higher rates on exceptional claims. The level of case handler may change at different stages of the claim, however we will notify you when this occurs. All of our fees will be charged with VAT in addition.
