On Monday, 4 March, members of Lyons Davidson attended the Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair at the First Direct Arena.

Over 6,000 students were in attendance last year and even more were thought to have visited this year. There were over 150 businesses exhibiting, ranging from solicitors (including Lyons Davidson!) to web design companies.

Lyons Davidson staff and current apprentices spoke to hundreds of students visiting the Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair about the legal apprenticeship we offer at Lyons Davidson and generated a lot of interest for the position, which is now live on the vacancies section of our careers pages. This opportunity as it is an excellent alternative to going to university. The apprentice will achieve a Level 3 CILEx Apprenticeship or Level 4 BPP Apprenticeship qualification, with the potential for further qualifications in the future.

They advised the students they spoke with that Lyons Davidson firmly believe apprenticeships are a brilliant opportunity to begin a career in law and provide on-the-job training in a flexible way.

They also confirmed that the apprentices in our Leeds office have quickly become valued and respected members of the recoveries team. They have their own case loads, so they are learning through doing while getting paid. In addition, they will not have the student debt from attending university. Two apprentices from the recoveries department, Grace Leak and Joshua Summerscales  gave priceless inside knowledge to visitors about what a day in the life of an apprentice is like, encouraging them to take the leap and apply.

The students were able to ask any questions they had in relation to roles within Lyons Davidson, the career paths that staff had taken and what it was like to work for the company.

We hope all of the students had a rewarding evening and are looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces at the apprenticeship interviews in the upcoming months.
