This week is National Apprenticeship Week and a perfect time to celebrate our success in launching and expanding the Legal Apprenticeship scheme at Lyons Davidson.
Lyons Davidson has been a strong supporter of apprenticeships since the framework for the new qualifications were being designed in 2011. We have been actively involved in designing this framework, implementing it in England and Wales, and are involved in the early stages of apprenticeship development in Scotland.
We firmly believe that apprenticeships provide an excellent opportunity to begin a career in law for people who can’t or don’t want to go to uni. Apprenticeships combine on-the-job learning with academic tuition in a flexible way that works for learners and employers.
The success of the scheme is self-proving through the achievements of our apprentices in our Cardiff, Leeds and Bristol offices, who have all quickly become valued and respected members of their teams. They have their own clients, whose cases they manage under the close guidance of supervision of their manager. Learning through doing is well accepted as a great way to make knowledge and skills stick for longer, and this programme is the evidence.
