The Canadian supermodel, Linda Evangelista, has recently appeared on the news stating that she has been left “permanently disfigured” following a cosmetic procedure designed to reduce fat cells in her face. The non-surgical procedure, which has grown in popularity in recent years, uses cold temperatures to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of the body. In an article on BBC news, Evangelista explained that the negative side effects she experienced following the procedure have not only destroyed her livelihood but have led to depression and self-loathing causing her to shy away from the public eye and to become a recluse.
We live in an age where image is increasingly important, and the use of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures are no longer the privileged domain of celebrities.
